OMD conundrum?? (did I spell that correctly?).

I am in the move from aps-c to mirrorless.
I am fairly decided on an omd m4/3 system due to size, weight etc.

Looking at cameras from Oly they are very alike and very different at the same time, but the sensor is basically the same, so IQ remains similar.

I like the Omd Em10 2 and Omd Em5 2 but the Omd Em1 calls me on gray as I can get a body for less (from digital rev) than a uk omd em 10 2.

Has anyone got both cameras?
Which is the prefered option for you?
Why is that the case?

Your help will be appreciated as my head is hurting from over thinking this one!
 
I have an EM10 and an EM1.

If I could only have one camera it would be a EM5ii which provides all the controls in a smaller size.

Actually, I've just smashed my EM10 so am looking for a replacement, I think ideally it would be the EM10ii BUT the EM5ii is better value at the moment as it has been discounted to almost the price of the EM10ii at HDEW.
 
Can't help on all accounts as I've not owned or tried them all, but I had the EM10, now have the EM5-II and have tried the EM1. The reason for the upgrade from the EM10 to the EM5-II was mainly due to the weather sealing and larger viewfinder, but I have to say the IBIS on the EM5-II is significantly better too, and the best I've tried. The reason I went for the EM5-II over the EM1 was partly form factor. I bought the M4/3 system for the times I couldn't/didn't want to be lugging my DSLR gear around and so the idea was to have a compact setup if I needed, so I bought the EM5-II knowing that I could put a pancake lens on and it would fit in a coat pocket, the EM1 is a bit too big imo to do this. That being said, 99.9% of the time I have the 12-40mm f2.8 lens on and so wear it on a sling strap anyway. I do really like the ergonomics of the EM5-II though, although some prefer the DSLR type grip of the EM1.

The EM5-II has a newer sensor so is slightly better than the EM1 in terms of noise, but the EM1 does have phase detect AF so you can use legacy lenses on it. It is unclear (and olympus seem to be reluctant to say one way or another) whether the EM1 uses phase detect during tracking/continuous AF, but since the recent upgrade it does seem to be better than the EM5-II (I don't overly rate the EM5-II, or the EM10 re tracking/continuous AF, but then I am comparing it to the D750 I have).

Choosing between the Em10-II and EM5-II I would say this comes down to whether weather sealing, larger viewfinder and slightly better IBIS is worth the extra money for the EM5-II.
 
I've got an EM5 Mk 1 and have used the EM-1. The EM5 is my main camera; if I want something pocket-sized I use my phone.

It partly depends on which lenses you're going to use. The heavier 'pro' lenses - e.g. the 12-40 f2.8 - feel really unbalanced on the EM5 without at least half of the battery grip; I expect that you'd have a similar problem on the EM10 but they're fine on the EM1 without.

The EM-1 has more buttons (than the old EM-5) so there's less fiddling around in menus.
The EM-1 can also shoot tethered. The old EM-5 can't; I suspect the new one is the same.

If I wasn't just about to move to full frame I'd get an EM-1 just for the viewfinder.

In your case, though, I suspect that an EM-1 with the 12-40 won't be an awful lot smaller and lighter than your APS-C setup.

The EM1 and 12-40 is nearly 1/2 kg lighter than my 60d and similar tele lens.
The form factor change is my only lean toward the 1 but in film days used OM10 with all that great zuiko glass, feel the 5 and 10 have a similar form.
 
Ned, that exactly what I am after.
Just having kit I want to carry will help with the fun part.
 
As a follow up and with thanks to all who helped.
I have just ordered an OMD EM10 Mark 2 from Digital Depot, Silver Body and the Zuiko 25mm f1.8 lens to set me going in m4/3.
Looking forward to its arrival.
 
If you want a EM10 mark 1 SRS Micro have them at a silly price!
