Ive finally done the big leap, bye bye Sony alpha a330, hello Nikon d7000. Bring on the nicer weather so I can get out and test it out lol.

Its gona take some getting used to compared to the sony I reckon. Any useful handy tips that you think may help me please please let me know.

i used to really rate sony both my slr's a100, a330 were brill 1st cameras but after having a few other products recently (compact camera and tv) they were suppose to be good products n turned out to be cheap crap. Just thought it was time for something new, a new challenge + ive always wanted a nikon.

Read the manual.

Not being funny.. seriously.... so many people don't.

Don't be tempted to use any of the fully automatic modes... Expect a fair share of failures at the start and learn from those (particularly in terms of where the camera achieves focus, and what it is metering exposure from). And of course get out and take pictures (even if it's just of all the white stuff falling here today!) Same as any camera really, only real difference is a DSLR is just generally easier to play with manual settings and get decent results. Use that flexibility.
