Hi... have been told my pics look at bit dark. I was editing on laptop as pc broken

Decided to plug the Monitor into laptop and Jesus Christ:eek: they do look dark.... Is there anyway i can tell that the monitor colour settings are correct and what they should be at and how to do it???

Thanks for your time

Zoe:)

time to buy a calibrator! Spyder or Huey or something more advanced.

A good first step is to turn the screen down to about 50% brightness, it's apporximate but it's not far off with most LCD screens!

In the absence of calibration software, the best I can suggest is to select a photograph which you know is exposed about right (from the histogram) and manual adjust the monitor settings until the shot looks about right. No subsititue for proper calibration though of course.

there is an online screen test thingy which can help you set the brightness right etc, but with a laptop if you alter the viewing angle slightly you can alter it. hence why laptop screens arent the best for photo editing etc
