On/Off switch stiff?

Should the on/off switch on a Nikon D90 be fairly stiff? It has a shutter count of 8671. Maybe it's me being a wimp. Also, how do I set the face recognition autofocus?

Face detect works in auto area autofocus but frankly it isn't really worth bothering with. On/off switches can become stiff, often due to a bit of dirt getting in there but I've never had (or heard of) on fail.

As long as it turns on Brian it's when it does not then its time to worry, as for face recognition not sure you could try youtube for tutorials, Nice avitar too hope to see some landscape images from you aswell as portraits?
