ON1 Photoraw 2026 any opinions?

Are there any tutorials you’d recommend Bob?
This guy is very good on most aspects of image processing and the course he offers here is free although you have to sign up like most others offering things for free. I downloaded it yesterday without any problems, the big upside to it IMO is it's on your computer to watch at any time. Russ.

I used AM to learn lightroom. He does some odd things at times, but overall it was very useful.

I’ve just got the software to, am new starting out with photography and editing but also got luminar Neo

New version photo Raw 2026.5 has just been released.
Unfortunately unlike previous versions up to and including 2026.4 this will not work with win10 OS.
Do not try to install it if you are running win 10 as it will screw up 2026.4 and not install the new version
I'm currently awaiting a help desk report :(

Thanks for the warning.

The earlier version has now installed after a reboot

I have commented to the ON1 help desk that changing the OS requirements for a version mid licence is not user friendly but I'm not expecting a response:(
Did you no many years ago you actually could speak to an expert online/phone and even let them do a remote take over of your computer to fix a problem from what is now On1 a company now that IMO has gone to money first to customer somewhere down the line.

It's a package that can do a lot of things, but it doesn't *have* to unless you want it to. There's a lot of presets around that let you develop an image in a particular style, but there's no need to use them unless you want, ditto sky replacement or automated distraction removal.
.... I have highlit your words because they are exactly key to how to best use ON1 in my opinion.

I came to ON1 many years ago after CaptureOne. I enjoyed CaptureOne and was using ON1 Effects as a plugin but CaptureOne started to get expensive for me because I had retired and have no income. I noticed that ON1 Photo RAW was beginning to rival the established RAW image editors (I exclusively shoot RAW) and so it became an easy and natural route to drop C1 and only use ON1. I think this was around 2019 and coincided with me moving from Canon to Olympus (now OM System).

ON1 have grasped the AI nettle and are leading the way and fully exploiting it to the users benefit, but you still have the option not to apply any of the features it offers. BrillianceAI does the heavy lifting by automatically analysing the subject areas and creating masks for them called Regions which you can then fine tune or not with all the palette sliders you would expect for each Region.

Just as with cameras and lenses, no hardware/software is perfect and ON1 is no exception. I think their techsupport is awful ~ It's a zendesk and it's robotic and frustrating. I am also irritated by their incessant marketing emails and paid-for invitations to courses etc I am not interested in.

They have a lot of useful tutorial videos though and there are a couple of very good third-party videographers on YouTube plus one whose sole mission seems to be to trash ON1's reputation. I think he has been mentioned in this forum and unfortunately taken notice of.

ON1 upgrade the version every year in October/November and so ON1 Photo RAW 2027 is about to drop. My subscription means it will come to me automatically and I am impatient for its new improvements and features! I shoot at least 2,000 RAW images every week of the year and final edit about 200 ~ This is primarily why I don't have much time to visit here!

.... Yes, Anthony Morganti is one I would also recommend along with Free Will, both on YouTube.
