Hey all :)

This is a bit of an odd request that isn't coming up in equipment searches.

Do any of you have suggestions as to a bag that would hold my gripped 5D with 85 1.2 that would also double up to be a man bag?

Ideally I would like a shoulder bag that doesn't look like a camera bag, and has lots of space for bits and bobs. The idea being that I would then always have the camera with me without lugging about my other body and all the chargers etc.

Many thanks in advance for your suggestions

I have a Fat Face canvas satchel type man bag that goes over my shoulder that I often use to carry a body with 1 lens. I can then also fit in car keys, sunglasses, small jacket etc for just wandering around.

It's similar to this kind of thing:

something like this perhaps? http://www.redsnapperuk.com/camera-bag-RunningShoulderBag.html or do you mean something that looks more like the leather 'satchel' bags?

Cheers lovely YV :) After more of a satchel bag that I can use with a suit. Thanks for the suggestion :)

That's the sort of thing I am after. But I am looking for one that will have a compartment for the body so that it doesn't get dinged or scratched by my huge amount of keys/headphones/etc etc.

Thanks Rob.

If it is making it too big then I can do without the grip :) Keep them coming :D

The one I have has an internal separate compartment and 4 external pockets so I can put the camera in the main part of the bag then any accessories in the pockets. I had a gripped D300 with 70-200mm in there at the weekend and there was room to spare.

Sounds like this could be good! Cheers Rob! Will do some digging and find out about this fatface. Cheers matey.

Cool willdo. Cheers for the help Rob.

Am keen to also hear if anyone has any suggestions for camera bags too?

+1 for the crumpler range, like you I was looking for a bag that didn,t scream camera bag. They are nicely padded without looking to bulky.

something like this? ?

As mentioned above though, a camera bag will have the gazillion pockets and dividers, but plenty of off the shelf man bags should do the trick??????????

+1 to the TT Retrospective.

I have just bought the retrospective 30, even my wife likes it :)

The TT retrospective 10 in Pinestone sounds as though it may be suitable for you. They are a bit difficult to obtain at the moment but more stock is due in September.

I've got several Crumplers but I use one of these when i just want one camera & lens: Clicky

Mind you, those TT Retros look jolly good.

TT's are expensive, but the quality just shines through. My 20 takes:

5dm2 with 70-200mm hood reversed
17-40mm
50mm
40D no lens
all batteries/memory cards/notepad etc

I read the title and thought for a moment you were after a body bag...
Shame, because I know where to get those :oops

anyway, this is where I recommend a Domke. They're tough and equally at home in the jungle or the urban jungle. Cool bags...

Anybody got UK stockists for the TT's? OH is in London today....

I have found most of the stockists in the UK are awaiting stock of the TT retrospective range. I believe stock is due in mid-September which may be too late for you.

This link details the stockists, you need to sepect international and then UK. I was surprised how many there were in the UK.

I can assure you the Pinestone Retrospective range are to die for.

Enjoy,

Paul

Thanks Paul. You are a gent! Will be looking to get a man bag to tide me over until september methinks!

Off to Edinburgh on 13th so need it before then!

Always the way when you want something, especially when you want it for a specific time.

Good luck in your quest.

:D Great minds Ryan - just called them. They had just two sent from TT, and already have a large waiting list. Next shipment due in mid September for them too.

Now also considering the Lowepro Classified range...

Will PM you details of a lady who just might have one ;)

Thanks Ali!

Do I take it you have inside info that they have stock?

I got mine sitting here from about 3 weeks ago. They said they had a waiting list (which I was on), but managed to get one. They are on twitter too (just @ the company name), and reply to queries etc :)

Hey all,

Thank you so much for all the suggestions. I reeeeallly want a Retro 20, but the earliest stock is expected anywhere is mid september and I need it for a holiday to Edin before then.

After much (female like) deliberation, I went for a Lowepro Classified :)

Thanks again
