One local i didnt expect...

The robins are a bit oof, which is a shame, but I really like the silouhette:)

Numbers 2 and 4 are out of focus, I think the camera/you has focussed on the twig rather than the bird.Number 3 is a lot sharper with good colours, shame about the twig between the bird and you.

Number 1 is the cream of the crop. I really like that one, it is clean and simple. Just a thought, have you tried cropping it into landscape format with the bird on the left looking into space on the right? Or is that not possible.Either way.............(y)...for that one.

No1 is excellent.

Thanks all, as the tittle the heron was unexpect, opened the curtains to see him flying down the garden.

They were all handheld at 300mm with kit glass, interested in any opinions as to why they are soft? Was it me or was it a setting? Exif is intact.

The kit lens is bound to be soft at 300mm f5.6 (looking at your exif data).
What lens is it? (I assume either Canon 75-300 or Sigma/Tamron 70-300).

You need to stop it down a bit but in that case you either have to have good light or use a tripod (or at least a monopod).
