Just wondered how many people have been long time users of a camera make and then changed to another. Did you stay with the new one or end up going back to what you were used to? Only ask because after 14 years with Canon I got my first Nikon today.
 
I went from a dozen fuji cameras to a Sony dslr, to nikon.

What Nikon did you get? And how are you finding it?
 
My first was a Nikon, went to a Canon then back to a Nikon. I like features on both but I preferred Nikon.

I got a D300, Im really happy with it. Only bad point is it has quite abit of dust in it.
 
Good choice. I had a D200, and then D90 - the D300 is the best of both. The toughness, size and weight of the D200 with the Image quality and ISO performance of the D90.

Dust, On the sensor? A good wet clean will sort that for you. You can buy kits online pretty cheap, and it's really easy to do :)

Kodak, to Canon, to Panasonic, and Canon again. Always seem to come back to Canon, but I'm never totally satisfied with them. The only Canon I've ever been totally satisfied with was a lowly A720is Powershot. Only 8mp, but the results were better than any newer stuff. I part exed it for the Panasonic TZ-8, which is better than the Canon 400d that I've recently aquired.
 
I almost went Canon. After using a Sony dslr for a while, and realising it was hard to get lenses [at least over here, and at the time I'd no way to buy online] - I started to scout the used markets for something with better availability. Could have been either or, of the big 2. I looked at a 40D, but a great deal came up on a D200 that I couldn't resist. It was that simple. My choice was more based on budget than anything else.
 
The only Canon I've ever been totally satisfied with was a lowly A720is Powershot

I have one of those, excellent camera and still use it quite regularly.
 
I've owned, in no particular order: Olympus, Nikon, Pentax, Minolta, Ricoh, Fuji, Panasonic and Konica cameras. I don't have any brand loyalty but would prefer to keep away from Canon and Nikon, I don't much like the big boys offerings but sometimes needs must.
 
Started with Pentax but last year bought a Canon 50D so that I could use the MPE-65mm macro. Recently sold the 50D and got a 7D for the super duper AF (really the only thing that Pentax is lacking imo).

TBH though, 99% of the time, when I go out I pick up the bag that has the Pentax K-5 in it.
 
I'm with nikon but if i go full frame i will definitely be considering the a99. I really like a evf, stabilisation and the carl zeiss 24-70 is top of the pops.

Started with a Fuji SLR in the 70s, then got a Canon EOS1000 SLR, first Digital camera Fuji MX2900, then Canon 350D, next Canon 40D (still have), and currently mainly using a Fuji X100. Bit of a theme going on here!

Next camera will probably be Fuji XE-1 or X-Pro, but also considering going full frame, which might see a desertion to Nikon, as all my Canon lenses are EFS crop sensor ones!

Canon I dislike that strange wheel thing on the back, general layout and the fact that they have a colour rendition that I both love and hate at the same time!

Nikons I find have the clunkiest user interface imaginable, and give rather boring colour rendition. Lenses are very meh too.

Pentax Body with Canon EF mount and Fuji Super CCD sensor in Full frame guise would be a real winner! :D
 
I've been a Canon user since 1997, and when I made the decision to go full frame earlier this year I am also using it as an opportunity to assess the lineup from the major manufacturers to see which is best for me.

As it happens, I decided to stay with Canon after doing this, but it was interesting to weigh up capabilities and price of each manufacturers system - and have a play with a few as well.
