Just been taking a look on there website, i was really surprised to see how much there prices had increased, done a comparison of the Nikon 12-24 f/4 Onestop want £639 now, as opposed to Amazon.co.uk £585  they also used to sell the Nikon 70-200mm 2.8 for £975 now gone up to £1,275 that's just in a couple of months, so probably not cheaper to buy from HK anymore certainly not from Onestop anyway, sign of the times i guess

Yep, HK sellers do go by the US$ exchange rate and the £ is at about 1.55, and that's not the rate that card companies charge

If you bought something say from the US at the moment, expect the card company to apply a rate of about 1.35 to 1.4 at the mo, so it's easy to see why prices have gone up.

Yup, I just sent them a feedback as I was about to click "buy" for a fisheye. Their prices have been hit badly, or so it seems, due to the exchange rate. I am sure they will have to do some corrective measures to stay competitive. Surely they are not doing business depending solely on the GBP : USD exchange rate going to their favour!

I was looking at the Tokina 12-24mm but it's now only £30 cheaper than in the UK. Cheaper I know but hardly worth it.

I guess I was wrong .. just got this reply back from them ...

Hi,

Thank you very much for your price match request.

However, due to the continuous decline of the GBP, we are currently unable
to match most UK price. Please accept our apologies.

Thank you.

Regards,
Onestop Digital

But that would mean either we are no longer "Rip Off Britain" or the rest of the world is now a rip off too:)

Good one, but who ever said that prices in UK were a rip off? Most of the times prices here are fair.. but it doesn't hurt to "shop" around.

I, daily, compare prices here vs. those in Camera Price Buster, US sites, HK sites, and my local dealer back in Saudi Arabia. Prices tend to be cheaper in Saudi, lack of VAT and very low import duties help. Still, there are times when prices in UK are very competitive especially when the exchange rate is as it is now.

Well if this is now the case i see no incentive to buy from them until they drop there prices again (if they ever do), particularly if you get a dud like a bad quality sigma and have to send it back

I also noticed that some of Warehouseexpress's prices have gone up too. The 24-105mm f/4 L was sub £700 last month this month is it nearly £800!! That will be my new lens on hold for a while.
