Oh well looks like my arm has been twisted !

Got a phone call from our MD yesterday while in Scotland, to be told i am being taken to Boston in June to see the next leg of the round the world yacht race, as we sponsor one of the yachts ! Looks like i better start saving and look for some camera shops in Boston ! ;)
 
i foresee a shopping list.....
 
At least you should save a few pennies by buying in Boston

Ohh and if you need an equipment carrier,,you know where I am :LOL:
 
OK, theoretically, if i had a budget of £2000 ($3650) for this trip, and knowing i would get the 100-400 !

What do i spend the rest on ???

1. 100-400 IS L £875 ($1599.99 USD in a Boston shop i just found, not the cheapest i have seen in the US but better than here !)

You should get the 100-400 and donate the rest to charity. My registration number is.......... ;)
 
Since it seems the 100-400 is a given, I'd be seriously thinking about either the Canon 180mm macro or for (ish) the same money the Canon 100mm macro and either the Canon ringflash or the Canon twin flash head macro flash.

Just to give you an alternative, the Canon 100mm macro and the Canon 580EX flashgun.

You should get a bit of change at US prices. :D

Erm !

the 20d, a 28-80 USM and 70-300 MK3 USM that came with the old EOS50E i bought as a kit ages ago, and the 50mm MK2 i bought a few weeks ago !

i was looking at the 17-40 ($800) or 24-70 ($1350) to replace the 28-80

Maybe BG-E2, 1.4 or 2* adaptors ? any ideas welcome !

This is pretty theoretical at the mo ! But am working on it !
 
Don't forget storage..you can never have enough and CF cards are stupidly cheap in the states.

If you are feeling generous buy a few and offer them for sale to our staff (first) and members on your return :D

I will take one 2gb Sandisk Ultra II card please :wink:

I have a 2gb iPro CF card at the mo, but another was on the list already !

Ill see what budget i have left and see what i can do ! ;)

There is your first "must"

Also look at the Tamron 28-75 F2.8 XR Di IF as an alternative to the Canon..much cheaper and image quality is comparible for the difference in cost.

The 100mm Macro is $599.99 (£328.31) and the 180mm isnt listed on this site in boston.

580EX is $479.99 (£262)
 
At the moment its looking like my list will be

1) 100-400 L $1600
2) 17-40 L $800 or the Tamron 28-75 F2.8 XR Di IF ($400)
3) 580EX Flash $480
4) 100mm Macro $600 (Not sure yet)
4a) Steves 2gb CF Card ! ;)

Total of $3480 (or $3080) plus whatever a 2gb Ultra 2 is ! ;) LOL

Now to see if i can get the money together ! (draws deep breath) !!! LOL
 
LOL Amazon USA have the Sandisk at $179.88 or £98.47 !!!! LOL

They actually have all this stuff cheaper ! shame they dont have an outlet in Boston !!! lol

I went to the states recently for pleasure (car audio) with a chap who went on business. He got shed loads of stuff delivered to his hotel. We were there for ten days and not one thing went missing.
