Yes
I had a wee spill on my Lambretta on the way to Lincoln at the weekend during a heavy downpour.

I had my camera in a holster (covered) and when I got my camera out of the bag on Saturday morning, the lens was detached.

The crash has caused the problem. I still managed to take pictures at the weekend by holding the lens tight.

I inspected them today and they're ok.

So, to get to the point. Can a lens mount be repaired?

Yes they can be replaced.

My entire lens mount assembly on my 16-35 was replaced a few months ago.

That's good to hear. Do you mind me asking what sort of price I'm expecting to pay?

To put it into perspective, I paid £120 to have a lens repaired after knocking it over on a tripod and busting the AF motor, it also broke the mount on the lens, not the camera luckily.

So you may be looking around the same money to have the mount repaired, you would need to have it estimated by Nikon.

:)

No idea I'm afraid, Nikon paid as it was a manufacturing defect that destroyed both my camera and lens n

Sorry to hear of your accident, but I'd like to see some of the pics. I live just outside of Lincoln but poor health put paid to my scooter run even if I only had about 5 miles to go. I'm sure the camera repair is important, but how's the scoot. No serious damage I hope. I've seen some pics in the local paper and it seemed like everyone had a good time.

Thanks Emily, no problem Tom.

Stuart, it wasn't a bad crash, more of a plop really.

Sorry about your health.

I'd like to say pictures are poorly composed as I had to try and hold the lens tight against the camera, but to be honest that's just a poor excuse. I'm usually just taking pictures of the Lambrettas. Plenty there too. I'll maybe put a couple on later.

There was a big turnout, over 5,000. The showers didn't spoil it too much. At least I got to put my tent up and take it down in dry weather.

Last time I when over with my bag, broke both my Camera and lens, the lens was a write of,the body need about £250 to repair :(

Just an update if anyone's interested.

Just got an email from Nikon. £66 all in and on it's way back to me. Hopefully early next week.

So just over a week to sort. That's very good considering I was told it could take up to 4

That sounds like an all round good result Robert, £66 not an insignificant amount but a lot less than one would expect eh? Iain

£66 is a bargain, last lens I had repaired was over £150.

You could have been lucky as well. Someone one told me the bodies mount were designed to break rather than the lens
