Op/Tech Pro Strap- Alternatives without quick release?

Yes
I am looking for a new strap to replace the stock Canon 40D one, because I find it uncomfortable carrying the 40D+Grip+18-50mm f2.8 around for long periods of time, especially in hot weather (irritates back of my neck.)

I've had a search and seen quite a bit of discussion, people seem to rate the Op/Tech Pro straps pretty highly and they look ideal, but I don't want/need the quick releases. Therefore, does anybody know of any similar straps which are fixed/one piece designs?

I remember reading somebody suggested the Canon L6 strap (which comes with the 1Ds MkIII) is much more comfortable than the stock 40D strap, any opinions on how good the L6 is?

Many thanks.

The quick release does not open unless you squeeze the clip! don't squeeze it and it won't be quick release! I have this OP/Tech strap on a 40D with grip and 100-400mm lens, got it from Focus at the NEC. They do make one that is not quick release, email them about it as they are very comfortable around the neck and have some elastication to cushion very nicely.

I've never had an Op/Tech strap fail/open on me with a gripped D300 plus a 70-200 VR on the front  Another way to stop the strap irritating the back of your neck is to carry the camera over your shoulder...

This one is the basic camera strap, I use one with a D300 and 300 f4 hanging off it LINK

Also carry the camera with the strap diagonally across your chest (put one arm through then over your head) if you put your arm through and hold the grip, then put the strap over your head the camera will hang with the lens down and prism housing against your body, much more comfortable.

Thanks for the responses. I know the quick releases have been tested to hold heavy equipment and haven't read any reports of them failing, it's just a small thought in the back of my mind of a clip being accidentally released!

I do carry the camera with the strap across my chest if I know I'm not going to be using it for a short while, but I prefer it around the neck when actually in use.

I think I'll just go for the Op/Tech Pro strap, if I don't like it I suppose I can always resell it!

I'm about to buy one of these :)

Be sure to check out the R-Strap, it's fantastic (remove the stupid fastenr thing and attach directly to the camera clip). I'd buy two, but It's easier to have R-strap second body over shoulder, with primary camera on neck strap.

The Blackrapid R-Strap is great. Really comfortable and camera is out of the way when you're not using it. Also attaches to lenses if you're using heavy glass.
rdh, looks like they've just released a double camera version. http://www.blackrapid.com/double-strap.php

It's a bit 'cowboy' though (in a shoot from the hip, not shoody way).

Yeah saw that, but I've got a feeling that the lenses would hit each other if both not in use. Will go for R-Strap plus neck strap to start with.

Thanks though! :¬)

The R strap seems nice but expensive! I've ordered the Op/Tech Pro strap, and will leave my comments once it arrives and how I find it on my trip to Dublin next week!
