Opening raw files

having a problem opening raw files in elements 6, does it ok for my D200 but not my D90,have downloaded from adobe DNG converter and another download from nikon, i can now view pics but not in elements, its probably something simple but its driving me mad, thanks in advance
 
To install with Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0:

1. Exit Photoshop Elements
2. Open My Computer
3. Double-click Local Disk (C:)
4. Navigate to: (Please read directory carefully)

Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats

5. Move the existing Camera Raw.8bi plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw.8bi, from the download into the same folder as Step 4.
7. Launch Photoshop Elements.
 
thanks have tried this and elements tells me its the wrong type of file, any advice? i really appreciate your help
 
When you downloaded 4.6 which one did you download, the one with DNG or the one without? you downloaded a zip file which contains the plug-in (ones called camera raw 4_6 the others called DNG_camera raw_4._6) you need to open the zip file and take out the plug-in, you need winzip or similar for that.
Which one have you downloaded and what operating system are you using?
