Ophelia: Day or Night?

Being inspired by the Millais painting Ophelia, I took these for the POTY competition (April:Floral). I entered the daylight varient on the basis that the floral element was more explicit but I actually prefer the night version.

Posting them here just to gauge opinion on which works better.

Thoughts, as ever, are most appreciated.

PS: Model is my wife, who was very lovely and braved the cold river water to get this shot.

Yes it was very lovely (and brave) of Rach to lay in the river. I was standing in it up to my knees and it was bloody cold!!

I prefer the night one myself too

I'm going to go against the grain and say I prefer the day. Your wife is mad though ;)
 
Some say she is indeed mad - she married me!!!

It is interesting how the same photograph - toned differently - can create differing opinions. When consulting friends and family about which one to submit for the POTY, nearly all of them suggested the daytime version.

a big defo night version from me..has mood and that dark mood..her skin looks corpse like..(porcelien)just like the image suggests

Thanks Niki; I think that is why I prefer the night time one - it is just a little bit more macabre than the day time version

Hard to pick a favourite one, but for me the day picture just edges it as I like the colours although saying that I prefer the detail of the river bed in the night picture. Both good though.

I certainly do..i dont appreciate it as much as i really should at times..The weather has been wet alot..but on a beautiful sunny day..its nice to get out..sometimes without camera..and just soak up some family time..on the beach,woods..ect..
most other times im out with camera..or at college..

Neil (fab avatar) - good point about seeing more detail in the river - will add to you the day time camp!

Niki - which part to you hail from? I try to get down there every year and can be found flitting between St Ives and Porthcurno.

Les - cheers for the positive comment, always like reading your opinions. Interesting link too; it is a bit racy - my sixth form thought I was watching porn!
