As title suggests! Personal opinion on any make DSLR which you think is best before jumping into full frame. No fights no squabbles just peoples thoughts.

For DSLR's I would say the Nikon D7100
For Mirrorless I would say the Sony A6000 or Fuji XT-1

:)

I used to own a Nikon D7000 and it was faultless. Also had some expensive glass.
Reason for the move.... to go FF Mirrorless. :)
If you are 100% sure your never going to go FF, the Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8 is the best DX lens. (Not cheap)

I'm a Canon user but would like to give a sony a77II or nikon d7100 a go.

If you really want you can get a FF right now and pay well within budget for a used one. Pick a good pre-owned D700, 1Ds mkII, or even 5D mk2 or the original if your needs are lower. D7100 / D7000 would be the best choice with smaller sensor, or 60D if you intended to record video and want decent video AF.

i have a a77, and it is very good, but i use my sigma's for mid focal lengths, they just sharper than some bayer mush

Get a short list of cameras that do ff then get a list of crop sensors from same manufacturers and get the same make keep lens cost down

Im not after a new camera or to go over to Nikon was just interested in peoples opinions on what they have or would like but not full frame!
I think sometimes you can get tunnel vision to the particular brand that you own and it would be good to see the other competition which is out there.

Bronica ETRSi.. ( though its not DSLR of course )
maybe thats cheating as its Medium format and im guessing you meant something smaller than FF.
otherwise would Be fuji XE-2 for me or the Fuji X100s.
i would choose Leica M monochrom but again its not a DSLR and also its FF.. sods law lol!
saying that you couldnt really call the fujis DSLR.. ones a Mirrorless compact the other a fixed lens compact..

guess i fail all on counts . but i suppose it shows that there are choices available that arent a true DSLR
