Opinions on Tamron 28-75mm 2.8SP Di

As above really, does anyone use this lens for dull light situations, i.e in a church or hall etc.

Reason i ask is that i have not used a Tamron lens before and the equivelant Sigma or Canon (which i own a few of each) are insane price tags in comparison!

I have the Sony version and had it as my first lens for my D700. I've sold the latter and going to soon sell the other one too. Personally I find it too soft at 2.8. From f4 onwards it got better but that sort of defeats the point in having a 2.8 lens.

On a crop body (like you have), I much prefer the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 which gives you a similar range. But I find this lens much better and it's pretty much my default lens on my Sony.
