Hi,

Today ordered a 550D Body this will go with the 17-55IS 2.8 Lens.

I have kept the SD cards bought previously for a 450D which I no longer have.

Already have the 7D and so will put the 70-300L on that Body.

Figured the 5 would use for Landscapes etc, while the 7 would be for Wildlife etc.

I could then take 5 and the 17 abroad with me when on Holiday as that would keep the Weight down.

Is this a Good solution to you experienced people.

I don't quite understand what your getting at, other than you'll be carrying two bodies with different lenses to save swapping them on one body and therefore enjoying the convenience.

Are you shooting for pleasure or work? I only ask as you mention 'taking the pressure off' the 7D.

Convenience, not Swapping lenses, General Wear and Tear, and for Travelling Abroad (less Weight).

I don't get the bit about taking 2 bodies on holiday to save weight??
 
I regularly take my 400D 150-500mm, 70-300mm and kit lens in my hand luggage, only once been asked to weigh it, in the last 20 odd flights, was a bit over but 70-300 in to Julies (wife) hand bag solved :thumbs:

Maybe different now Ive got a 7D but doubt it

I think the Weight Difference between the L version of the 70-300 is Considerable, but that's just me.

Are you just spending money for the sake of it as it seems to me that you are just burning money.
Sorry but I see no logic in what you are doing, a 5D for landscapes and a 7D for wildlife would make sense if you needed to use two bodies.
I've taken my gripped 50D, 10-22, 24-105L 70-200L f/4 IS, 1.4 MKII extender (before I sold them), abroad with me.
If I had a 7D and I was going somewhere that has good potential for wildlife, I certainly wouldn't leave it at home and take a cheaper cropped body.
You won't have any problems with hand luggage as far as weight is concerned and any kit you don't want to take out on day trips can be locked in a safe or suitcase.
 
To be fair, if the OP wants a light setup for lots of walking whilst on holiday / travelling around, then it makes sense. I have a Nex for that purpose as sometimes it's nice to have something a little lighter round your neck (the difference might only be a few 100g, but after a few hours that can make a difference :))

Agree Daz,7D is an all rounder for me, WL,LS, Macro, and if it gear dont fit in your room safe, ask reception should have a customer safe for bigger items :thumbs: dont forget to insure it though :thumbs:

New York, San Francisco, Californian coast, Yosemite and Vegas. See, I need different cameras for different places :lol:

In all seriousness, I'm taking the 60D for wildlife (seals, birds, sea lions...bears?!) and the 5D for landscape and walkaround shots. As much as I'd like two 5Ds, I think my back would give way :lol:

The Nex is so pocketable, I bought a tiny 35/1.7 MF lens for it and I can take it anywhere as a walkaround compact :)

Somebody has finally got the Options bit.

When I said 555D for Landscapes I should have said occasional, as it's meant to be a lighter carry version of my 7D. I go on Holiday for a Holiday, and when I am on Walkabout I am not hunting for Wildlife, so the Relief from the weight of equipment is Ideal.

At Home, I can also decide what I will be shooting on the day and take the best Option.

Might sound Crazy to a lot of people but it will I'm sure be of Benefit to Me.
