Good choice proberly best telephoto lens you can get in that price bracket.

I hope its better than my Tamron!! lol..

I find it quite slow.. Widest appeture is 4.5 and its SLOOOOOW to focus.. it hunts a lot too.. That drives me mad.. i hardly ever use it now..

But the IQ is very good.. for the price its a great lens.. the macro is usable too, combine it with a Raynox and you'll be a Gnat's gynie.. (Spell check please!!)..

You are really going to enjoy that lens, especially the macro facility. If you want to get closer, to about 1:1 macro, keep an eye open on ebay for a 'Sigma Achromatic Macro Lens 58mm' as Sigma don't make them any longer. It looks like a filter and fits the same way. I picked one up last year for about a tenner.
