After the successful Meteor Shower thread for the Perseid meteor shower earlier this year I thought we needed one for the Orionid shower that peaks overnight this weekend (21-22).

Is anyone planning anything (weather permitting!)?
After my first time trying to capture meteors with the Perseids I'm hoping for some good results this weekend.

Good luck :) I'll be stopping in the North Yorks. area, nice dark sky and hoping for the clouds to go away.... forecast doesn't look too good though... :|

fingers crossed, but the forecast for here for then is crap, so I've probably got no chance

I'll be heading into the Yorkshire Dales on Saturday night with a couple of friends to shoot the Orionids. A couple of years ago, my friends and I parked up at the Ribblehead viaduct to capture the Leonids. Had a great night, though it didn't result in particularly good shots, thanks to a pesky moon.

What are the times for viewing in Britain? Thanks.

Overnight on Sat 21-Sun 22. The moon sets just after midnight so if its cloud free then we could get a good display. :)

Aside from the weather, I'm working 7-7 days sat and sunday... am I really going to go without sleep for the chance to photogra... who am I kidding, of course I am

I think I'll have a look outside before I get any gear ready. The sky has gone from bright blue to grey to white this week around here, with a couple of grey days being wet. It was looking hopeful at the start of the week, now it looks a washout.

Thanks for that. Looked for the ISS the other night, loads of cloud though!

Just got in from work and remembered this, not a cloud in the sky down here! Been on the patio for 20mins lost count after 20 meteors, sadly none for the camera

Some fantastic displays here last night in the South. There was good few early on but when Orion broke the horizon, with the moon down it really livened up.
