Think I've caught a horible bug.......

As a 40D owner looking to upgrade I couldn't decide on what seemed a 'chalk or cheese' choice between the 7D and the 5D2.

After using both for a whille I simply couldn't decide which would suit me best so on a whim I picked up a 1D Mark II.

1 month down the line I'm hooked.

Hello my name is Philip and I have a 1D Problem

Is there any hope for me or am I now only going to ever be happy with a 1D upgrade ?

Well I love mine even although it's as old as the sun, I think it's a bit like good glass when you have something that's really good quality you don't want to go back to something that isn't so good.

Not only that but I think Canon's 1 series body is just such an utterly beautiful piece of engineering, aesthetically as well.

Nothing wrong with the sun - still works fine as far as I can tell

Even a few generations old - I've decided not to go with the 5D2 or 7D just now.

Just do not get it as bad as me. my upgrade path 450D -> 40D -> 7D then added a 1DS and a month or two latter a 1DMk4.

Think you need a spell in the Priory,

If we can be of any help and possibly remove some of the tempation away from you - maybe take the 1Dmk4 away for a while, please let us know, I would be more than willing to help out someone in desperate circumstances

:lol::lol: def a bug

trouble is the D bug has developed into a L bug :gag::bang:

Yeah, and if you are really unlucky you get the 'mark +1' bug as well, when the mkII has to become the mkIII and the mkIII has to become a mkIV.

Got to say though that the 5DmkII is a piece of work too. Not so nice to use as a D but the shots out of can be stunning.

Wait until you have two of them - it's still not enough and a third would be nice :D

Luckly I went stright to the mk4 :D. Was in two minds to get a 5Dmk2 but needed the better auto focus system.

dinners come join the L club.

Is there a section for two bodies and L glass? No? I think I'm screwed.

Unlucky!

I started with a 1Dmk2, then went to a 1Dmk3 plus a 1Ds now got a 1DsMk3.

Not a cheap hobby ;)

I just sold my 1Ds, what a great camera that is. Im happy with my 1D3, i just dont want to put it down. The 1Ds only went to fund my latest habit, im hooked on L.

Hello, my names Dean, and im an Lcoholic!!!

Dean:)

Totally agree. The 5/7Ds are very very nice bodies, although as soon as you pick up a 1 series it just fits your hand like a glove and the quality/weight is superb.

I just wish I could afford to buy all the L glass I really need (ok... want).

I'm already in it although I am hoping to get something wider than the 24-105.

Ditto, the 12-24 Sigma is a option I was looking at but I can make do with 24mm (well 31.2mm) for now.

How have you found the 24-105 if you don't mind me asking?

Sorry Mark - I missed that.

Great as a walkabout but way too narrow on a 1.6 (for my liking) when it comes to landscapes. I sold it a while ago and I'm after something wider which can be used on both 1.3 and 1.6.
