Hi.

I'm new to photography and have just got my first DSLR. I have also been playing with RAW editing so would like some comments on a few pictures that I have taken today.

Please be open and honest, if they are rubbish please tell me and why. That way I can try again.

Thanks.

Your befores are better than your afters :)

Snow is white ;)

Try using the white balance tool to pick the snow for colour balance then adjust the exposure brighter until it just starts to clip.

Your compositions could be a little better in some but they are good for a beginner.

Well done :)

Snow is white but i think the afters are better photos. I took some yesterday in the snow and corrected the white balance and they looked pants. I prefer photos with the warmer look rather than cool.

It's all about personal preference really.

Thanks for the comments so far, please keep them coming.

I thought the original images looked like they had a blue tint to them. The light wasn't great yesterday when I took them. As the sun is out today I may go back and reshoot.

RobertP - I have adjusted one image as you say and included a new before/after. Is the 2nd closer to what you were thinking?

Looks like it could use a little more sharpening but yes, that looks better.
