I have two outdoor portrait shots to take using Reflectors or other item.....

This is for submission for an evening college course in a portfolio with other
photo's so subject and type of shot would be a help..... this nooby tog needs

It all..........

No theme as such Karl and yes and I know there will be a 100,000.000 things to do but a portrait strangers not family and the lighting and shadow must be right, I have only been using DSLR for a few weeks a Canon EOS 1000d so question would be strange for a non novice like yourself. TY for your reply.

This is not about the camera - it's about YOUR ability to produce a picture - so I'm afraid you have to come up with the idea and execute it as best you can.

Thats for sure Andy TY can only do the best one can eh!!! much obliged.

John.

Ok then a suggestion from me a certain shot i like

Woman on the beach next to an old pier or similar (positioned right you should be able to get shadows)

Get her to wear something unusual..i.e. not beach wear

something floaty that you can get some movement out of and just fire away

B&W would be my choice for dramatic look...try and get right sky and you should be in on a winner

Like i said the list is endless but thats just my suggestion

(reading this back its like I have a fantasy for a girl on the beach with loose fitting clothing hahah)

No David I have to get 2 prints taken outdoors using fill in flash (which I only have on the camera built in) or using reflective light of some sort......

I am a complete nooby to DSLR and to PP so finding my way around that and my camera is taking a bit of time which I don't have and getting someone to model not knowing anyone who would is difficult aswell. Ty for your reply. John.

Thanks Karl...... I will keep that one in mind next day out I will head for a beach with a pier and ask an old woman to go and change  do you think "Gourock" would have one? with an old lady I mean  Ty for getting back to me though much appreciated. Regards John.

Ok John, time to get your backside into gear here!

Firstly you need a model, No family? Ok you will need to either press gang friends/fellow students or try a model site like netmodel or purestorm. Need not cost you a penny as there are models only too happy to model in return for the pics.

Right, now you have a model what are you going to do?
Location time. Urban? Seashore? How about a field full of rape with all that yellow? You need to use a reflector, have a look on ebay they are not too expensive and cheaper than flash. You will need to position your model so that one side of her face is lit by the ambient light and then you fill the other side to get rid of shadows using the reflector.

Stick your camera on Aperture priority select the lowest aperture available to you and get on with it! :)

Hope that helps.

Great Ali big help YES ty Now to get BOT in gear Cheers.

Regards John
