Overclocking help

Hey guys

Just realised my AMD motherboard advertises it can be over clocked and can be done so though Bios...

If its advertised to be able to be pushed to the highest setting, will this damage my pc?

first off ditch the stock cooler. overclocking increases temps and stock cooler are generally rubbish for over and above their design.

2nd whats your processor and motherboard? some cheap motherboards do not have the options to overclock.

3rd what rating is your power supply?

It's very easy to do permanent damage to your components overclocking, so only do it if you can afford to replace the equipment you have. Don't expect amazing results, you might see an improvement in benchmark tests but they rarely mean anything in real life. Think about upgrading components rather than clocking them, it can work out cheaper in the long run with better results.

The Motherboard is an AMD one (I can fin the box, built the pc myself...)
Bios allowed me to overclock 25x...its workins atm...

Power is 580w

right well we need to find out exaclt what you have, you cant just ramp up the settings and hope for the best.

once youve done you overclock ideally you want to prime stress test it for at least 12 hours to see if its stable.
