Overhead shooting - Camera Jib or not

Has anyone ever bought a camera Jib before specifically for overhead shoots?

I have a few shoots I would like to do overhead for example a grand piano but the only ways I can think to do it is if there were some sort of suspended platform with a hole in the floor or a camera jib. Has anyone purchased or hired one previously for an overhead shoot or is there a much easier way that I am overlooking?

Maybe find a venue with a Grand Piano and a balcony? Ask them nicely if the piano can be put under the edge of the balcony for your shot. A couple of short tower scaffolding platforms with a walkway between them - but make sure your PLI covers you just in case! Quick, cheap and dirty, a monopod, live view and a remote viewer/release?
