P filter suggestions?

I'm wanting to get a few more filters for Landscape photos, I'm just not sure what to get though. Currently at the moment I have a soft light grey grad and a ND4, And since 2011, they've been uses once. With me buying my Tamron, I'll be out more often, and want to get ahead and create a book for myself (Basically a project for my own shelf). I'm new to filter's, kinda, and looking for any info on filter's. I've done a tonne of research the past few days, and I'm getting more confused.

Ones I will be getting, Is a CPL. And I'm looking at ND filters, Just not too sure how dark, I'm wanting to smooth out water, so I know it'll need to be dark, Just not sure what level. Any advise would be fantastic.

i was watching a few videos on youtube today and they were using for 3stops up to 16 stops which seem high

but never done it myself yet so will look out to see what other advise is given

Depends on how smooth you want the water, Anything from 1/4 to 2 seconds is enough for running water, A 3 stop filter should be enough for that depending on conditions.

You also may want a 10 stop filter, Not sure on wether Cokin or Hitech do one to fit your holder but theres always the option of a screw-in filter like from B+W as well as other manufactures, These are excellent for smoothing out water on seascapes.

Also a Circular Polariser is a must for any landscape photographer and again i think you will probably need a screw in filter, Good quality brands are agan from the likes of Hoya, Kenko, Heliopan and B+W.

Gordon, A 3 stop filter and for myself to invest in a 10 stop at one point in the future sounds to be the trick I'm after. First on the list however will be a Cpl.

Mark, Thank's for the link to your site. It was a good read, and rather informative. That and the Nd filter page also.
I did also like the read about your Photo truck. I've been having simular idea's myself over the winter period when I couldn't get out the drive , let alone up the street. However you've thought a lot more into your's than I have mines. I look forward to seeing a few photos when you get round to it.
