Painted Lady

I really like the first shot, so colourful, but not distracting.
 
There's been a big influx of them here the last couple of days, I'm surprised Europe seems to have practically identical species.

I am surprised that this is not an American Painted Lady (Vanessa virginiensis) as you are close to the US of A
Funny you should say that though about these being common, I passed via Vancouver in May and I got a few hours spare and visited a park, The 1st butterfly I got to photograph was a Camberwell beauty (Nymphalis antiopa ) and there was me looking for something really different.
Anyway, A lovely shot of a very colourful butterfly.
 
First shot is a winner - lovely and bright but the butterfly is still the main focus.
