Pakistan camera market

That reminds me of London's Tottenham Court Road, during the 1960s.

At that time it seemed as if every second or third shop between Goodge Street and Oxford Street sold cameras and the shops on either side generally sold electronics.

I can't keep watching - it's so enticing! Hong Kong had places like that in the 60's too.

It's the same in China, massive range of choices, very keen prices.
I've only been to one of these shopping malls, high-end new cameras and lenses on the ground floor, large format on the 5th floor, enlargers and printing gear on the 4th floor, lighting on the 3rd, can't remember what was on the other floors.

You took me back there, Andrew. I arrived in London in '72 and TCR was the same then - loved the place.

And me. In the early 80s I frequently had to go to that London for specialised IT training and used to walk from Euston down TCR to whichever hotel I had been booked into. Sadly all gone now.

This just popped up on my YT feed, big brother and Google is definitely watching . . .

The presenter says that he thinks that there's just one of these in Shanghai; there are definitely two to my knowledge.

It isn't just photo stuff of course, all specialist subjects have either their own large building or series of back streets, it's the way they do things there and it works brilliantly.

Did they ever let that guy (Karl Rock) back into India? He was banned for a year or two at one bit.
