"Panasonic G series" Owners Thread

Kazakhstan trip sounds awesome. Would love to go to Pakistan/Afghanistan too if you could do it vaguely safely. Love some of Steve McCurry's pics from there - http://www.stevemccurry.com/main.php

Went for a little bike ride up at Rivington Pike today....

Come on people!! :)

View from my bathroom window this morning :smug:

45-200mm - it's still not as sharp as I would like at longer focal lengths, but stopping down a little seems to make a big difference.

Midnight last night out of back door....just a quick snap !

Only a light dusting here in the West Mids. Considerably more in Snowdonia at the weekend:

If you want pictures out of windows... I took this just a minute ago.

The high street here was like a ghost town, the shops and roads were almost deserted.

Yay we got things moving again. Dudie love the Snowdonia pic.

Went up to the Lakes today but the light was pretty poor, so I went for the mean and moody B+W approach

I did also manage to get a shot of this rather picturesque scene.

Nice ones Graham, was that a Heron in the corner of the last pic?

Had the GF1 for a while now since my better half nagged me into getting something smaller to carry out with me all the time.

I am Impressed with the capabilities of it.

Anyway thought it was time to post one in here:)

I'm very glad that I have a GF1 - more so with the recent weather. The GF1 with 20mm and 14-45mm has been with me all the time - while I have my car I decided I didn't want to carry a DSLR kit in case I found myself having to walk anywhere!

Well I spotted this nice scene on the way home yesterday and it is one of my most atmospheric GF1 shots so far.

I took my first AVCHD video last week, but I can't view it on my Intel iMac 2.66ghz.
I am assuming I need a converter because Panasonic didnt include the relevant software.
So, has anybody found a converter that will convert MTS files that I can use, that is, of course free?

In the meantime, heres a couple of pictures I took on Thursday after the Big Snowfall in Kent..

The road to work....

And 15 miles later, what I used to get there....

Nice sharp picture there, Mal. Glad you are enjoying the GF1. :)

It's thawing here too and I hope that it continues as my MX5 has been stuck miles away in the snow for over a week now... and it's dented after a Freelander parked itself in my drivers side wing :shake:

Found this rose now the snow is going, amazing how it has survived.

GF1 Auto

Sounds nasty, hope your ok, cameras, well you can always get another one !

Took the GF1 out for a spin, not done much lately but all the snow got me motivated. Just a couple taken with the 14-45mm.

Some lovely pics again everyone.

Alan, I find iMovie works fine for converting the MTS files - not sure which version I have though, an update might fix it?

Been up in the Lakes having my free stay at Storrs Hall from English Lakes using my pic. Had an awesome time, lovely place, food and incredible weather today - felt pretty alpine up in Langdale.

Great pics Graham, lovely part of the world. Must try to get back again soon, it's only been 40 years since I was there on a school outward bound course!
Re the MTS file, I tried iMovie but in the end I got VLC do play it. Thanks

Thanks :) I was actually going to make this into a card after your suggestion but then I saw the prices for just 10
Bugger that! Instead we paid £3 per supermarket pack and £7 in the dog rescue charity box!

Graham, stunning shots there mate!

btw, what do people use for their Micro 4/3 macro options? I'm looking at some of the 100mm manual options out there - looks like I'll need to part with about £100

Make your own. Print out the photo on photo paper, 1 Sheet of A4 card, fold in half, stick photo on. This makes front and back. Take 1 sheet of paper, print greeting on half of it. Fold in half, stick inside of cardboard outer. Sorted.(y)

You can get software that helps you design all types and shapes of cards based on an A4 sheet. You can import your own pics and use them and personalise all the text.
I used Greeting Cards Factory, about £18 from Amazon, maybe cheaper elsewhere. Get some nice card and you have cheap greetings cards all year There is also a similar programme for Macs. They will also help you design posters flyers tags and business cards

Thanks Oldboy, lightened my load by changing from Canon 40D and various lenses cos they were getting too heavy for me, this little gem of a camera is great and allows me to keep snapping.

Good to see you say that - exactly what I am planning, for the same reason :)

Can't make up my mind whether to go for the GF1 or wait for the GF2 though at the moment...
