Hi all,

I'm contemplating selling my M43 kit and replacing with an X100. I tend to only use the 20mm 1.7 and was wondering if I am correct that the low light performance at high ISO is better than the G3 combo? I already have an X10 and love the JPEG's and was hoping the X100 was basically capable of similar colour but better DR and ISO for indoor low light.

I do like the G3 but find RAW is required for best IQ but I have my 50D for my more serious images and would like good OOC images for my general day to day stuff.

Has anyone used the G3 and X100 and able to offer any real world advice?

Afraid I haven't used a G3 to compare but I do have an X100 as well as a few Nikon DSLR's. The X100 is a stellar performer in low light. It's as good as my D5100 (D7000 sensor) which I think pretty much makes it as good as anything out there at the moment until you get to full frame. To be honest, even then, it's not a whole lot worse than my D700, it really is that good.

Downside is that auto focus doesn't always nail it first time when the light drops a little but if you use the EVF you can see straight away when it has missed and try again.

Most boring shot in the world I know (I took it to sell some bits on here) but this was 3200 straight out the camera.

Thanks for the info and the pic. Can't you buy a G3 and advise me on the comparison :-) Looks like I may well invest.
 
I haven't got the G3 but I have used the X100, Olympus EP2 and Olympus EM5 which are similar to the G3.

AF wise the G3 would be better, its well known that both Fuji's (X100 and X-Pro 1) are fairly slow to AF although accurate when they do lock on.

Low light performance of the X100 is exceptional and was much better than my EP2 although its a much closer run thing with the newer EM5 I'd imagine the G3 is better in low light than the EP2 was as it has a much newer/better sensor.

Only thing I'd say really is that I quite liked the 35mm viewpoint but wished I could swap out the lens sometimes!!!
