Well the Panasonic G5 has been announced. What do we all think?

"Panasonic has formally unveiled the LUMIX DMC-G5, a mid-level mirrorless interchangable lens camera. The G5 is built around a 16MP LiveMOS sensor that the company implies hasn't been used in a G-series camera before. This, combined with the company's latest 'Venus Engine' allows the capture of 1080p video at 60 frames per second (50p in European examples). It also gains an additional control lever, higher-resolution 920,000 dot rear LCD and regains the eye-sensor to automatically switch between LCD and electronic viewfinder. In principle the G5 will sit above the existing G3 in the company's lineup. For more information, read our hands-on preview."
I like the sound of 1080p video @ 50fps and/or 25fps (50p/25p), rather than 30fps, as I gather this is the best rate in order to get the best motion (lack of flicker?) on euro PAL region TVs. I don't pretend to be an expert on this subject so discussion is welcome.
Nice to see the eye sensor back and a revised (bigger) grip. These were the main reasons I went with a G2.
It looks like there is a new button near to the shutter button to control power zoom which I guess is a welcome addition.
Aside from all the other improvements, one which I think is being missed and not talked about a lot is the new electronic shutter. This should provide almost silent operation. I think I have read that this is not available when using flash to sync, but otherwise surely an amazingly welcome feature of which people have been crying out for for a long time?
I think it seems to be getting quite a bashing on some sites, but the G5 was always going to be more of an extension to the G3 with minor upgrades, since the flagship GH3 will be sure to follow later. The G5 should also reduce the price of the G3 for people that are happy with the G3. The G3 is still a great cam and the Russian hacker Vitaliy has just released his public beta new revised Ptool software, which includes the first hacks for G3 video improvements.
