Panasonic LX7 to replace dedicated camcorder?

Morning all!
I appreciate that there is a dedicated LX7 thread and although i was tempted to post on there, thought my question would be best answered on a new thread.
The only video capability I currently have is my Canon G12 and with a new granddaughter recently arrived, I want to be able to improve on this.
My DSLR (Canon 50D) doesn't help me here and although I may upgrade this in the future, it is the here and know which is important to me.
As I see it, I have 2 practical choices;
1) buy a dedicated camcorder, or
2) consider something like the LX7 as a replacement for my G12 and let it "double up" as a camcorder.
So my question is simple really, does anyone have first hand experience of using both the LX7 and a dedicated (mid-range) camcorder and does the LX7 produce video of a sufficently high quality that it could be considered a replacement for a dedicated device?

I use my LX7 as my b Cam.

Very good quality and 100fps when needed.It's the reason I went for it.

I'm currently in the middle of filming a body transformation video for myself and most of the shots are from that.

Just wondering if anyone else has compared the video output of the LX7 to a mid-range consumer camcorder.

Any further thoughts would be very welcome. Thanks.
