My wife loves her photography and and has a good "eye" for a photo and from time to time comes up with some great shots but she really is a point and click person and doesn't want to get involved with different apertures / shutter speeds at all ...... it's just not her thing.
She currently has a Panasonic Lumix PZ 5 that needs a service and new batteries, I can get it repaired relatively economically but am considering putting the money towards an upgrade instead and her B'day is 10 days away.
She also likes the convenience of a compact and being able to put it in her bag and take it anywhere / having it to hand. Would she really notice a big difference in quality upgrading from a PZ5 to a PZ30 or won't it really be noticeable to an amateur photographer.
The alternative is to upgrade again to a Bridge camera, my only reservation is it's larger to carry around, again is there a huge difference between say a PZ 30 and the FZ 150 or do you think she'd just find it awkward to carry and it'd get left at home instead.
The biggest question between the Bridge and PZ 30 would be if the difference in picture quality using auto mode is worth the difference in size to carry around or whether it wouldn't really be that noticeable.
If I did go the bridge route I'd probably then get the PZ5 repaired / serviced so she still has an everyday carry with her but also the option of superior quality for days out / holidays etc ??
Any help / input with the differences she may expect and if it's worth upgrading at her level would be much appreciated.
