I'm looking for a new compact and have more or less narrowed it down to one of the above. The only real differences seems to be the GPS, LCD screen, dedicated video button, AVCHD Lite and the stereo sound recording.

Can anyone point out if I'm missing anything? The difference in price isn't a deal breaker for me, but it is a fairly significant consideration. Thanks everyone.

I have a TZ8 and and it's a decent little compact, not too hot in low light though so if you plan any of that maybe look at something else.

Not a massive amount of difference between them to be honest other than the gps which saps your battery (which doesn't last what the manufacturer quotes anyway) and the things you've listed.

I put a review on wex when i returned from my hols, it got a lot of use in 2 weeks in almost every kind of situation a normal camera would go through.

Also a few snaps on my fb page.. www.facebook.com/StudioMarkAnthony

Isn't TZ9 out now? isn't that basically TZ10 without GPS?

Thanks Mark. I'll probably use it as a holiday/travel camera, so the wide angle and fairly large zoom will be useful. GPS doesn't interest me, and I've got a DSLR for the more serious stuff and low light, although I don't do a great deal of that.

Think I'll get the TZ8. The TZ9 is in between the 8 and 10, as you said, but it costs nearly as much as the 10.

I have the TZ7 which produces some might nice images, I think its identical to the TZ8 except the TZ8 has manual mode. My TZ7 is crap in low light but images taken in normal light are very nice.

Dont know anything about the TZ9 other than it will probably end up costing you more than a TZ7.
