Panny LX7 or GX1 ?

Hi

I'm after a nippy little camera that has reasonable iq, and decent video for family occasions etc. I am really torn between the LX7 and GX1 with 14-42 powerzoom, they are practically the same price!

My head tells me the GX1 with its bigger sensor and lens changeability is better value, but I'm not necessarily after an interchangeable system as I own an X-pro1 with some lovely primes so I'd be quite happy with a fixed lens.

Anyone have experience of both?

Cheers

As much as I loved my GX1, get the LX7 as you already have a interchangeable, the LX7 has a nice walkaround zoom, the 14-42 isnt really all in one.

Hi Dan,

I recently pondered the very same question. I am looking for a more compact camera to use when I don't have or want my 5D2 with me.

I had pretty much settled on the GX1, but that was before I read about the LX7. I am definitely more on the LX7 side of the fence now. Personally, I like that it's a 1.4 with the equivalent of 24mm on a full-frame. I just wish it had a proper timelapse function and a remote shutter available.

I am worried about parting with my money and a LX9(?) being announced, so I'm actually wondering if something cheap and cheerful (Canon Ixus 510 HS) would do as a stop-gap.
