How many of you get teased as being paparazzi?

I get it all the time from people at uni. :bat:

They always seemed rather disappointed that my camera/lens combo (40D+24-70L) can't zoom to outer space. :cuckoo:
 
people get that same dissapointment when i'm carrying my 120-300 2.8. They think I can zoom on a fly from 10 miles away :p
 
I find people are interested in the REAL life pap.. :shrug: Not just what their imaginations tell them..
 
Donkeys years ago,I went down to the start point for our local carnival.

I had on my new Ilford film body jacket ,with some film in the loops, a monopod,my Olympus OM1n with winder and 70-210 lens on

Got shouts of ,"which paper" "is it the gazette" " do we get free prints"

"do we get paid " Well, My head slowly got bigger and bigger, till I fell over :p

Nowadays you would probably get, "oy ,pervert,get that camera outa me face" :shake:
 
I haven't really had anyone ask me whilst I'm out shooting on the street yet. Just people at uni. And yeah, I've had a few of the friends jokingly refer to me as the pervert. :nono:

It's now getting to the point though, that they don't mind as much that I take their photo. I never keep embarrassing shots of them and delete the ones they really don't like. But often, I have to just hold the camera in my lap next to them and click a few shots off if I'm to get any decent non-posing shots and these always tend to be the best.

My latest trick now is to show them what 6.5fps sounds like. I say, "Check out how fast this thing is." I point it right at their face and as I get to about 20 frames after 3 seconds I've now got every possible facial expression from straight-faced to big laughing grin and everything in between. Those are nice too.

Not me, although i have been shouted at by a farmer and what he called me sounded a bit like paparazzi.
 
I thought this was a thread about Paparazzi, didnt realise its was about you mates just calling you pap cos you have a camera..:thumbs:

And for that reason.. im out.. ;) (Just watched the Dragons Den.. )
