Paris Trip with my D7000 - Lens Advice!

Well I do like the 24mm f2.8 but I feel it might be a little restrictive at times, I'm also planning trips to Venice and Rome later in the year, I'm contemplating returning the 24mm and selling my 50mm (which I've never really used) and buying either the 16-85 or 17-50 Sigma, which would be best?

I've been contemplating that sigma as well as the tamron 17-50. From what I've read the 16-85 is a very sharp lens and ideal as a walkabout. I'm looking at the 17-50 as its 2.8 through the range and I'd like the low light performance.

What about the 2.8 Tamron 17-50 Chris?

How does the 16-85 Nikon lens compare to the other "walkaround" zooms?
Taking on board the comments that I don't want to be swapping lenses all the time and I'm tempted to just take my 11-16, 35 and a zoom and part of me thinks that having VR would also be a good option but is the Nikon VR the same as the Sigma?
