I'm off to Paris this weekend coming with my girlfriend and will be taking my camera with me, anyone know anywhere good in particular for photography? (apart from all of it )
Montmartre and the Pigalle district are suitably 'grubby' in places - but watch out for thieves in the less-travelled areas...Paris can be seriously dodgy at night even in touristy areas...just like any other metropolitan area...ask advice at the hotel for where to go and where NOT to go with a camera on display - local knowledge is best...
Notre Dame inside is fantastic - a tripod would probably help a lot as I found myself doing 1/3 sec exposures by hand. It's very dark in there and the candles create a lovely effect
also the Paris Catacombs are meant to be amazing, but we just ran out of time when we were there last
And also Au Lapin Agile and the Montmartre Vineyard (Paris's only one) and around that area is quite lovely and quiet too and some great architecture if you have a wander round.
My Mum recommends Rue du Dragon for some great architecture too
Definitely Montmartre. Excellent views. Nearby on the street are the works of artists on display and for sale, worth looking at even if you have no intention of buying.
