I now have my EOS40D camera and I have to say I am thrilled with it but I have a couple of questions maybe a EOS40D veteran can answer, they may seem silly questions but I am a novice so please be patient.
Q1; When the built in flash activates there is a noise like a servo motor running just before the flash pops up, is this normal as my Canon powershot S1 IS is completely silent?
Q2: The built in flash seems to deploy even outside in daylight sometimes, is this normal? why ?
Thank you in advance of answers.

Ignor me:LOL:

The servo noise is the flash release system operating, to allow the flash to pop up.

The flash pops up because the exposure control system has decided that there is not enough light for normal photography. Can't remember what the criteria is , but i suspect it and exposure time of less than 1/30 second.

You're probably using one of the picture modes or "P" program. If you opt for Tv or Av then the flash wont activate until you tell it to.

So all is well chappers eh?
Thank you very much for the info, please dont tell me I worry too much:bonk:
