We haven't had a new pc for years ( now 75 and retired). We use ours for browsing and household admin only (no gaming etc). We currently have a HP Pro Desk 400 G5 SFF. Any recs or specs folks? I back up using an external hard drive but my old machine will not live forever. Thanks in advance.

When my last "proper" PC died a year or so ago, I bought a GMKTec mini PC off Amazon. Managed to get one with 64GB ram and a 1TB hard drive for a reasonable price last year, it's a Ryzen 7 8845HS chip, so there are some GPU cores available rather than a discrete card.
It can play the games I want, process photos, scan film using an Epson, and of course browse the web and do household admin. So something like that might be worth looking at for your purpose. It's tiny, about five inches square and 2-3" thick. Sets itself up once you unpack it and plug it in.
I bought an external drive bay for my old hard drive, to connect via USB.
