Kinda understandable, every company is understaffed and overstretched thats if they are even open. I think you will struggle to find a quicker service with the same warranty and prices. If I were you Id still chat them.

I do understand the circumstance, and normally wouldn't care, just think this laptop is about to pop
it's been freezing up videos a lot, getting robotic voices on YT etc if I play anything HD. I had a quick go of their live chat, bit useless really, the guy said that because it's a custom build it takes longer - but I went and checked a default pre-built PC and got the exact same delivery time - when I put this to him the only thing he could assure me was it would at least arrive by the given date.

Ah but you're in the UK, I'm sure me being in Ireland adds a few days on top. It's also £55 I didn't want to add :/ maybe i'll just have to cut a few more corners
Like this.... some configs and a minor change could speed up your build big time. Thats why I asked for your spec and maybe we can find something sooner. Instead of spending the 50 on priority.

That's pretty much the same as my chosen set up, used the delta pro as base and only changed the Gpu, RAM and SSD - I can choose a smaller size SSD and select priority, as I'll be addind a HDD later either way
The delivery on the spec above is 2-3 days priority. There are other that are 5-6 day builds, most normal build times are 10-11 days.

It changes for me though because I'm in Ireland - think I'll just suck it up on the later date, it's a week extra, or £50 and I'd rather the money go into the build - sure time will fly by ...

I did come across them, seemed expensive but I'll give them another look now
I wouldnt say Scan, Nova etc etc are expensive, Id say AWD/CCL are very cheap, they are basically offering a nearly free build because you are buying components from them. I wouldnt build someone a PC for £50 or sometimes even less for labour, its 1/2 day to 1 days work incl testing and stressing.
Look at Box, Chillblast, Scan, PCspecialist.

AWD are definitely the cheapest but the feedback for them is pretty terrible on some sites. Looking at some of the others I'd need a fatter wallet.
Feedback for a lot of sites is pretty terrible, even amazon. Yeah, the others you would need a fatter wallet, so may as well get exactly what you want at the price you want to pay even if it takes another week. The longer you take, the longer it takes. Do it mate, the end of the week will soon be here and you can add another week to your doa.

Actually went through the order earlier, and then hit a stumble, using BT, there's no obvious option through my bank's site to change currency when making a transfer, and I wanted it to be bang on so they wouldn't come back with 'your payment was a tenner shy' - so it looks like PP is my only way, and there I get rode for a few more quid as their conversion seems to be way off
Call tomorrow, do a bt, they won't process tonight.

I use Scan for my components and they've been great during the lockdown. Most recently I ordered my PSU on Saturday night and it arrived this morning at 10am. That's pretty damn good!
My own computer I like to build myself, it's really not all that hard and you get a lot of satisfaction in the end. But for business computers I use a local place who I call up in the morning and it's usually ready by the end of the day. Could be worth looking around locally to see if any computer shops are operating if time is of the essence.

I think separate components have been easy to purchase, builds during lockdown with limited staff have been tricky, but I think it's understandable, many of us are at home and these companies are operating on skeleton staff, we've grown used to expecting things next day but it's not quite fair.

Definitely, but it may be worth checking out local computer shops who may be operating during the lockdown, or perhaps more accurately; trying to survive.
Cagey has managed to pick up a really nice build, couriers are being a real pita.

My desktop is out there ... somewhere I know it is DPD who are causing the hold up, but the company who took my extra money for a quicker build took longer than expected to get it out too. I'll just have to be patient, if I was in the UK i'd have had it by now. Just eager to check that everything is fine with it. When I can do that and test it all out, then I'll give some feedback on the company, but for now I have no clue only that they have sent a package ...

Id be disappointed with DPD, its taking them way to long. Push for a refund on the next day service and postage.

I have no doubt that some cross border delivery services are suffering......but Crucial who used UPS worked well. Once it left their Brno Czechia facility it took a two days to arrive as they said on their website i.e. total time 3-4days. Granted a small parcel compared to a PC.
Hopefully it will get there soon but I agree with @twist if they have not performed (bearing in mind Covid19) within a reasonable expectation then some refund surely is due!
I think the builder did well to get it done and out so quickly due to covid etc. Its a 2 day delivery service and dpd received his parcel on the 24th.

If everything is intact, I certainly wont hold it against the builder site, they did take an extra day, it was 3 days rather than 2 but they did get it out pretty quick considering the circumstance. It is DPD who are holding it back, they changed the delivery date 3 times, from Tues to 'some time in the next 5 days' to Wednesday - which didn't happen, so I can only assume it reverted back to the random 5 days as tracking hasn't actually updated since Monday. Just have to be patient, cannot get through to them in anyway atm. Wouldn't mind only it's just an hour from here, no borders between. I'm wondering is it because it's a large parcel, right now they are leaving packages on the doorstep then going back to the van and waiting for you to come to the door. Maybe it's a 2 man job to carry these larger ones in? and the hold up is lack of assistants? I mean, I'd help the guy bring it in but they're probably not allowed do this atm

I should update and give some kudos to Palicomp, where I purchased my build. Initially they were slow to respond, they have said they were backed up and short staffed so understandable, and they have been communicating decently since I received the desktop. Because of the hold up, they offered to throw in a couple extra fans [I hadn't ordered enough for this case] but instead I asked for a discount on extra RAM, as I'd only ordered 8GB. They agreed and we made a deal on a matching stick, at a discount plus free postage, basically giving me my £25 early build fee back - so all is well. I don't know much about builds but to me it looks a nice neat job and everything is functioning as it should be.
My phone cam isn't the greatest but you get the ides, the red cable at front is for the fan they repositioned to the side panel, as I'd only ordered 2 x 120mm, both should be on front. Once I get an 80mm fan for the rear I can move that side panel one back where it should be and it'll be a little cleaner
The HDD bays/DVD drive [I know, I'll never use it but it comes with the case] and psu are on the other side, it is a split case which helps keep this side clean - it's also supposedly very good for cooling even with limited fans because of that split.
Anyway, that's me about sorted, she is a little beast - had The Witcher III running on it last night at various settings even ultra and it was very smooth - and this was with just the 8GB RAM single channel.

Looks good mate, they sent you some good 120s instead of the cheapest chinese fans like a lot of cheap builds usually get. That GPU looks VERY familiar
Its going to look really tidy when the 120s are on top of each other at the front and the 80 at the rear, I think that case can actually take a 80 or 90 at rear. You may be able to tuck the cables from under the GPU in a little better behind the motherboard but its not a necessity, some cases have better management than others. You could format your laptop HDDs then plug and play until you want to shell out for more storage. All the grey and black ties in nicely.Im glad you got it and the company has responded positively.

They actually have a cable management service for extra, I didn't opt for that but I'm sure it's neater. The HDD go in the other side, it is more cramped over there because of the dvd drive, I could probably take that out at some point, doubt I'll ever use it

Better you didn't, its easy to diy with some cable ties. Should be okay with a 3.5 or 2x 2.5 even with the drive. Are you going to add a fan on that side rear I see there is a spot for one.

Not at all mate, just don't want to see your info get lost, deserves its own thread, it's a nice little build and shows how much computer people can get for such little money. Some case pics would also be good, looking at the MB it looks tiny.
