Fellow people,

I built my own PC last year and although it was my first build it has been working fine. I put an ASUS mobo in with a AMD Phenom x2 550 processor and have recently unlocked the other two cores with a simple press of the button whilst installing.

The thing is all was well for a fewdays and since then I have been having a few problems with going into a reboot loop, not always waking up properly when it has not been used for a while and sometimes saying that windows repair can not sort the problems? After a bit uf faffing about it does always seem to startup and then work fine

I have reinstalled Windows7 (64bit) and it seems to be a bit less problematic but wondered if anyone can shed any light?

The MOBO is an ASUS M4A78LT-M LE and it has the AMD Phenom x2 550 processor. I have three HDD - one 500gb for OS and Systems and 2x 1tb -1 for photos and music and the other as a backup.

Many thanks.

Nick

unlocked the other 2 cores?

did it work okay before that?

Yep it was working fine :bang::bang::bang:

From looking on other forums such as OCUK it is a standard thing for this MOBO/Processor configuration. Not so much as overclocking just as unlocking - getting a 4 core processor for 2 core price :naughty:.

Trouble is I don't know how to reverse the unlock to see if that is the problem

Thanks

Nick

if it happened since doing the unlock its certainly possible its related.

to be honest i dont know much about this unlocking of the amd, it may be worth popping a thread up on OCUK, theyre a useful bunch they should know

Cheers for that Neil - I thought you may well come up with a sensible solution
