Yes
hi all, my self build tower keeps cutting out randomly, been running for approx 2 years without any issues untill few months ago , started to shut down, after a few min, or few hours, or after half day of use, cannot seem to find what it is? removed drives, still does it , also ram and graphics card, still cuts out, i got a corsair water cooled cpu, took it off and reapplied paste still cuts out? could it be my power supply thats doing it , the motherboard is a asus m5 a97 r2.0 its not been overclocked, run numerous tests, all come back fine, i didnt build this, it was bought like it, thanks

Two areas

Power supply can be a cause

But some time back I recall reading that failing capacitors in the 'power' section on the motherboard can fail and show this by such intermittent shutting down

I wonder if @Compuwight can throw some more informed light on this

IMHO first thing to check is the power supply and these days its much easier - no need for resistor loads and several multi-meters !
A simple all-in-one tester is all that is needed in most cases:-

Pay particular attention to the beeps which can indicate an unstable output voltage.

Good luck !
