PC on TV

Hi all,

Rigging up a media pc using an old AMD box with onboard graphics so no Gcard out, is there a nice easy pci or usb way to ouput to a tv as a monitor?

Tried a vga to comp video cable and crashed and burned with my lappy

Non hd tv so no dvi inputs

far as i know the only way would be to get a dedicated graphics card that has an s video out.

you can get VGA to the red/white/yellow connector if i remember rightly..

Id try and find a cheap pci card new or second hand with an svideo output, shouldnt cost too much! Just make sure its pci if you dont have an agp slot.. though agp is preferred if you do.

You can get boxes that convert RGB to TV video from Maplins, they've got one on sale

short s-vid cable if possible and the buy a 2nd hand card route
frankly you will get better quality and the RAMDAC or whatever it's call will be up to the task

the maplins box isn't a bad idea and they're easy to return things to if it's pants
