Pc screen calibration.

Hi guys,

Ok i am running a pentium i3, 16gb ram, and a 2gb graphics card and use a benq 2024hd monitor.

Im after advice to calobrate my camera to photoshop and then to get my screen calibrated.

Any tips? Im using adobe photoshop cs5 aswell.

+1, but I'd opt for an eye-one. Apparently more consistent out of the factory.
 
Eastleigh hampshire neil? same here :-) in the new builds by lakeside. I had a hueypro BUT everythink on my screen kept coming out green, does it only work for photographs and photoshop or does it work for ALL things on the PC, i dont mind spending out some £££ aslong as it works this time lol.
 
I'd opt for the Spyder at the moment, as it seems to be the best device available at the moment. There are types available, I'd look at the Pro or Elite.

X-Rite have replaced all there devices with a new model the i-one Pro, which whilst will probably be an excellent machine ,does seem to be having teething troubles, mainly with the software. Personally I'd give it a miss for the moment.

Once you monitor is calibrated it will work with all applications that are ICC aware, such as Photoshop Lightroom etc. Many web browser are now also supporting colour managed displays. However if the application you are using isn't ICC aware then you will still get better results as you do have a consistent monitor to work on

Whats the best was to set up my canon 7d with cs5 photoshop then??? Srgb????
 
sRGB is a good safe option. Possibly the colour gamut of your monitor may be a little larger than this but probably not much more, Adobe RGB would be far too big. Using sRGB you would get a good interpretation of the colours on your monitor. There can be little point trying to display colours your monitor cannot handle, the colour management software will just re arrange the relationships so they can be displayed . This of course assumes a correctly calibrated and profiled monitor

I use the Spyder3 Studio SR.

allows you to match raw camera output to monitor through a little cube gizmo through to custom profiles for your printer and all the papers you use to print.

Pricey but nice.
N.B. I don't use the cube as I prefer the Xrite passport colorchecker working through Lightroom for initial conversion. CS5 used for specific edits that LR cannot handle.
 
I use the Colormunki - excellent printer profiles too. Had a spyder and that was good too.

Forget using your eyes though - you need a hardware device if you want to calibrate.

Wrong all browsers DO NOT show the same colours when posted on the internet. this is NOTHING to do with your own screen or printing.

i think there is a clue in here about chaz's issues with colors - he's not clear on the difference between sRGB and adobe RGB
