I have an old (ish) Power Mac G4 at work that only has USB 1. As you can imagine it is painfully slow for data transfer.
I've bought a generic PCI USB2.0 - 4 port card and installed it. It shows up quite happily in system profiler under "PCI Cards" and also shows under "USB Hub". However, when I plug any external drive / memory stick etc into it, it doesn't respond or mount
Have I made a mistake in buying a generic PCI card? ie should I have bought a MAC specific card, if such a thing exists? Or is there likely to be another reason for the problem?
Any help or advice appreciated
