Is anyone using a Peak Design Capture Pro Clip which allows a camera to be connected either to your belt or the strap of a bag? I've linked to one of the models below. I'm tempted as it would allow me to not have to carry a strap all the time and they seem to get really good write ups, looks like it could be good for carrying my D750 while hiking!

yep, I think there fantastic wouldn't be without mine. instead of taking the camera when I can be bothered to carry it I find it gets clipped on most nights when walking the dog

Thanks thats exactly my thinking, also think it might be handy on holiday!
 
I've been tempted by these but can't help being nervous about hanging a moderately heavy camera off them. How do you use your's nik?

on my belt and on my rucksack strap, I actually use a wrist strap as a back up teather but tbh there is no need they are really good and strong. Supported my 5dmk111 and the 70-200 2.8 no problem

I don't think you would regret it, its got a twist lock on it that makes its really secure.
 
I have looked at these too, I do a lot of mountain hiking so would be on my rucksack strap and I also have an osprey baby carrier rucksack type thing for the wee fella so would be handy for it too. Only thing putting me off is the fact that I use an L bracket all the time and have everything converted to arca swiss so mounting the camera on a tripod would be awkward.
 
Used mine all through Sri Lanka, had an extra clip on the 70-200 as well, so if I wanted to swap lenses I could just clip the 70-200 to my rucksack strap while I shot with the wider lens. Great bits of kit IMO.
 
I have just purchased one, and while it is brilliant on one of my bags I do find the screws a bit short for me to feel secure on that bag.

They do sell longer screws, but in my opinion £8.50 for 2 screws as an extra is a bit much to pay just to make a piece of "Pro" equipment fit for purpose.

I did query it with Peak Design, their answer was that if they included longer screws, everyone would have to pay extra to cater for the few that needed them, but really they would not have to provide both sets, and an extra 5mm on the length of the two screws would not cost very much.

Rant over, still a great piece of kit on the bag on which it is secure.
 
I've just bought one of these with the dual plate so I can use it with my Manfrotto RC2. Still a bit unsure on it tbh. Seems secure enough but there's too much weight when clipped to my belt and feels like it's dragging my jeans down, and then I can't find a place on my rucksack where the camera doesn't seem to get in the way of my arm. The clip itself is fine, seems well built and secure, I just don't seem to be able to find somewhere comfortable to clip in on to :rolleyes:

Lol, I've only just bought my flipside 400 ;) I like to have my cameras at hand though so bought one of these clips so that I can have my D750 on my sling strap and EM5-II on the clip rather than having two cameras swinging around when I'm scaling some of the Derbyshire hills. Just need to figure out the best place for it ;)

The Pro Pad comes with longer screws and makes it a lot more comfortable when lugging it about with a big lens on.

I'm thinking about a 2 body setup so it seems like this would be ideal - now do I want 2x D750 or 1xD750 and something else.... hmm

If you've got the cash and don't want a smaller system I think 2 x D750 would be perfect :)

It would save me the cost of 2x len systems, would be nice to have a D750 with a wide prime and a D750 with a longer one (28 / 85 maybe), I could also see it bring handy for landscape shooting - 24-70 on one and a 70-200 on the other!

Well I've ordered the Capture Clip with the Pro Plate as it seems this will also play nice with my Manfrotto Tripod Head.

Doesn't with mine :( It's one of the few it doesn't work with. Don't use the tripod very often though, but tempted to see if I can swap the head with someone.

That's kind of (not quite) why I want two systems. When I'm out taking landscapes I often see wildlife on route that I want to shoot, therefore I'm hoping my EM5-II with 100-300mm (200-600mm eq) will take care of the wildlife and then I'll have my 18-35mm on the D750.

Did you make sure you bought the dual plate and not just the arca one?

The ProPlate replaces both the Dual and Arca one. It comes with some extra bits you screw onto the sides to make it RC2 compatible (with most heads anyway)
 
Jack the Hat also does the new Proplate version, that's why they are giving the £10 off deal on the older version.
