Peak Design's slide. Rubbish or am I just very unlucky?

First off I love everything about this strap. I've been using it since it was a vile over here and had no complaints. My mate has one as well and was also happy.
That is until we got heavy lenses. In my case it was a Canon 70-300L, his was a Canon 70-200 f/2.8ii. Both using Canon 5DMKIII's.
We both noticed how the camera would get lower on the body over a very short time when out and about. We made sure the small screws in the side of the clasps were tightened up, his were very loose, mine not so much. Still the issue continued.

We now both have new straps, courtesy of the amazing Peak Design CS team, and still both getting the same issue, although it takes a bit longer to happen.

To me it just seems like a bad design. If you pull on the strap evenly there is no movement, it's rock solid, but pull on only one side close to the camera and there is no resistance. It seems like the camera needs to be sitting so it pulls on the strap evenly, but this doesn't happen all the time, especially if used as a sling strap.

So, I know there are many users of this strap that are more than happy, but I know of two that are giving up on them. That's 4 in total we have been through. With my other lenses it's the best strap I've ever owned, but I'm not using different straps with different lenses.

No had issues with mine, but then mostly I have my 24-105 on, not one of the big lenses.

How do you have the strap? I got it as it's long so I have it diagonally across my body, it didn't feel right just on the shoulder. Works ok but I don't often carry my bigger lenses attached (or for very long).

I'll put on my 100-400 and hang it from the hook on the door for a while

I've had various lenses on mine without issue, but my 70-300 is heavier than the others so it's only with this lens that it shows up. Although this lens is heavier I wouldn't class it as a big heavy lens, at least not compared to a lot of the white lenses.

I wear it across my chest, with the camera just above my trouser belt. My mate does this as well although he also wears it across his neck in the more traditional way.

Hanging it on a static object won't show up this issue. If you tug on the strap by holding both parts of the lower part of the strap the camera won't move at all, but tugging on the rear part only will make the camera move with ease. So it's a combination of weight and movement in my opinion.
