Beyond the colours, it should be a seriously good camera. It's more or less the same inside as the k-30 and I've found that to be an absolutely cracking camera.
yep, this is where I sometimes feel its a shame, over the past 4 odd years I have been through every brand if all levels and in a like for like situation Pentax are absolutely superb and by far the best value for money in each class of camera they make yet they seem to feel they have to offer more than this to compete.
I moved to Pentax because I fell in love with the 50-135 2.8 and rank it amongst one of the best lenses ever but now I have been with Pentax a while there is so much more I like than just that lens.
I don't know much about them but do they make pro-level bodies and lenses? Comparable to the 1DX and the high end L lenses?

Pentax have not really tried to enter the pro market since the LX in 1980 and that system was a true pro's system with interchangable prisms, screens, weather sealing (unique at the time), electronic and mechanical shutter speeds, an incredibly sensitive meter (calculates up to 125 seconds!) etc.
To be honest I think that with the stranglehold that Nikon and Canon have on the pro market and have done for decades, I don't think its worth Pentax trying to re-enter although nothing says that they can't get a truly excellent high end model together that could be popular amongst enthusiasts or semi-pro's if its marketed right.
Oh and the colours for the K-50 is a bit gimmicky given the target audience, its not really entry level at £529.00 and is apparently aimed directly at mid-level buyers, I cant see them wanting it in yellow.

The K-500 is the entry level body (only differs from the K-50 in not being weather sealed or having an electronic level) being priced at £449 although thats bound to drop fairly quick.
I cant see them wanting it in yellow.
I wanted my K-01 in yellow but could only get black at the bargain price![]()

Each to their own. I wouldn't swap the ergonomics of my K5 for any other that I know of, And my Q is just such fun to useI could never figure this out about Pentax ... other companies, like Fuji, have the ability to bring out 'retro' style cameras, that look great! Pentax have never really made a good looking camera IMO, they started out a bit ugly, and never really improved. Of course, I know, looks aren't everything, in fact they mean nothing ... but when you have to hold the thing all day! ... sorry pentax users, it's just a taste thing. But I've never liked the look of any of their cameras. I think they should take the design guys out back ...
