Pentax K3 - Do I "upgrade" from the D700?

I've been reading some damn good reports about this Camera. In fact one report said it beat the D600 in terms of colour, noise and high ISO performance.

Or is it really about the glass as I have a 16-35 f4, 85 f1.8D, 50mm f1.8D, 35-70 f2.8 and 80-200 f2.8 one touch (fantastic unless wide open)

So, could I hope to match the quality of glass and therefore images with Pentax gear? Or is this me just hankering after a make I was brought up with in the 70's and 80's and is purely nostalgia?

Your thoughts gentlemen.

Forgot to add I have around 5 Pentax K MF lenses so would be good to use those.
But maybe get a K10D and test them out first to assure quality.
 
I shoot Pentax so I'm biased, but they are very definitely under-rated vs. Canikon. Made for photographers, which might sound strange given that they're cameras, but the controls, menus and general ergonomics are superb on the K-3; much better than on other marques.

There will be a FF camera offering as well by the end of this year; new lenses are already being produced, and of course there is a large 'back catalogue' of Pentax FF glass.

But, the current range of Pentax cameras and glass might not be suitable for sports if you rely on AF to do the work for you.
 
In the Pentax 67 days, I was sorely tempted, as in those days I wanted an SLR but with higher quality. Regrettably the exchange rate went against me and I never had my 67......... I did briefly flirt with the idea of a nostalgia purchase a few years ago, as they are now soooo cheap but I am not tempted by Pentax any longer, nor even with the 645.

Oh and should you believe journalists....??....they have an agenda, as do 'sponsored' personalities who do talks.

In terms of importance it is always the quality of the glass over the body but more importantly the eye behind the viewfinder in getting the shot.

My main subject is night seascapes or "water shots" and like to dabble in HDR.
I have read reports that the upcoming FF camera will not have the aperture lever meaning the old PK lenses will be stop down metering only.
I sincerely hope not and think that Pentax will shoot themselves in the foot if they omit this important feature.

I've also read the K3 has a GPS accessory that enable you to take astrophotography photos up to several minutes for nights shots with no star trails. So basically a tracker system. This appeals to me as you don't need a really fast lens or high ISO to get good photos of the Milky Way for example.

Also my D700 and associated kit in the bag weighs an absolute ton.
I plan to do Snowdon again this year and really don't relish the prospect of lugging all that gear with me.
