Pentax lens mounting problem

This is a bit of a puzzler, my Super A arrived today, my Vivitar 19-35 was already here. Thing is, it will not mount on the body:thinking:

you can only get one tab of the bayonet it, so it's at an angle basically, it will not go straigh in. I can't see anything physically blocking it. Is there something I'm missing somehwere?

I have confirmed it is a Pentax mount (I had suspected it may be konica A/R mount.

I'm sure I'm just being dim somehow but I just can't see what isn't working?

Guess it's not me being dumb then, right onto an engineering based solution...
 
Nope, first thin gI did was remove the plate with that on. Then I removed the mount from the lens altogether and it's quite simply too large. filed down a smidge it fits tight but won't sit flush against the body and won't turn to lock. Won't Infinity focus either. (Super wide angle macro anyone?).

I was already holding off sending it back as it was described as being mint condition, but the aperture doesn't open fully, it stops a stop short. I'm starting to suspect it's been rehashed and had a Pentax mount fitted to an originally something else lens. All the other pentax version of this lens have been AF, this one isn't. I decided to hang on and test it on camera, but it doesnt actually fit the camera!
 
Here's the lens mount, all agreed that's Pentax K (note the Ricoh pin is a sprung ball)

And here's as far as the lens will insert into the camera - note the gap is around 0.75mm, enough to stop focussing past around 1.5/2m.

Well the fault has now been diagnosed - the lens mount on the body has had awhack at some point and is in fact oval, hence no lens will actually fit on it. I'm going to have a blast with the die grinder tomorrow and get it working, after a fashion. In the mean time - what other Pentax bodies share the same mount ring?
 
Sorted, keeping my eye on a few others on ebay so I can rob the mounting ring!
 
sod's law strikes again! I've not had much luck with camera eqipment from the bay recently - Yn460, totally dead, Super A, knackered mount (To be fair it did say untested may be spares or repairs), Viv 19-35 supposedly mint with aperture issues...

I had some Pentax spares listing yestereday but can't find them now, just want to see whether the later cameras also use the same part, obviously the mount spec's the same, but screw holes and thickness may wel be different.
